About College

The College of Computer Science and Mathematics was established on May 26, 2008, and began teaching in the 2008/2009 academic year. It initially comprised the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Mathematical Sciences, and the Department of Statistics and Informatics. The College later expanded to include the Department of Medical Mathematics and the Multimedia Department. The college was later renamed the College of Computer Science and Information Technology after a ministerial order from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This renaming took effect on June 18, 2015, through Order No. C3/2/3385. Consequently, the Departments of Statistics, Informatics, Mathematics, and Medical Mathematics were compelled to suspend admissions from the 2015/2016 academic year. Over the years, 12 groups of students have completed the program. When it first began, the school introduced a Computer Information Systems Department. Afterward, the school stopped admitting students to the Multimedia Department. Currently, the college has two scientific departments for full-time study (Computer Science and Computer Information Systems) and one Department of Computer Science for part-time evening study. It also provides a program for students who want to earn a master’s degree in computer science. So far, 2,060 people have graduated with a bachelor’s degree from this school, as well as 171 master’s degree holders. Although no specific number is given in the article, we can surmise from the plans mentioned that the doctoral program in computer science will be quite small.

Let us welcome the new year with an auspicious return to attendance, which restores the academic scene to its realistic splendor and effectiveness with serious participation in creating a future full of knowledge and glory. At a time when our University of Glory crowned its annual march with its thirty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of its sober scientific edifice last year… We would like to remind you that this great edifice would not have reached this lofty status had it not been for the efforts of the pioneering professors, the living among them, and the departed beside their Lord, leaders, professors, and associates.

After that, all praise is due to Allah, who has granted us this opportunity, for we would not have been able to achieve it on our own.

In an era where technological advancements are accelerating rapidly, our College of Computer Science and Information Technology at Al-Qadisiyah University stands on the threshold of a new phase of innovation and academic excellence in all aspects, particularly in the scientific domain.

Our efforts are aimed at transforming the college into a leading center for education and advanced research in the fields of information technology and computer science, with a strong focus on enhancing our students’ capabilities to highlight the most creative and innovative among them—those who possess the ability to face the challenges of tomorrow in an ever-evolving technological landscape.

The realization of this vision depends on the implementation of a strategic plan based on several key pillars, the most important of which are:

1.Curriculum Modernization – Redesigning academic courses to align with the latest technologies and global standards, ensuring they meet the dynamic demands of the job market.

2.Enhancing Scientific Research – Providing support for applied research, especially outstanding studies, and collaborating with international industrial and academic institutions to foster innovation and technology transfer.

3.Professional Development for Faculty Members – Organizing workshops and training programs to update the teaching and research skills of our academic staff in line with scientific and technological advancements.

4.Strengthening Industry Engagement – Establishing strategic partnerships with technology companies to offer training and employment opportunities for students, particularly graduates.

5.Expanding Technological Infrastructure – Upgrading laboratories and providing state-of-the-art equipment to create a modern educational environment that supports interactive learning and scientific research.

We firmly believe that achieving this vision and the success of these initiatives will enable our college to contribute more effectively to societal and national economic development while empowering our students to become future leaders in information technology and computer science.

With the will of Allah, together, we will work to achieve these goals while enhancing our college’s status as a leading educational institution at both the national and international levels.
